Environmental
Our goal is to be a net-zero company by 2030. We have also put in place a near-term goal in 2025 to reduce our carbon intensity by 30% from a 2022 baseline to ensure a bias for action.
We also have a goal to create a commercially-competitive net-zero fuel by 2030, building on our culture of innovation.
Both MSAR® and bioMSAR™ are water-based fuels with a superfine dispersion of fuel in the water phase. This results in a cleaner combustion process which almost eliminates harmful Black Carbon/PM emissions. Due to the lower combustion temperatures of MSAR® and bioMSAR™, their use reduces NOx emissions by 30%. MSAR®’s improved fuel efficiency results in carbon dioxide reductions of up to 9%, and with the inclusion of renewable glycerine to produce bioMSAR™, carbon reductions of over 20% can be achieved.
Both our MSAR® and bioMSAR™ technologies deliver cost savings of 10% compared to fuel oil and biofuel respectively by using lower value feedstocks.
Both MSAR® and bioMSAR™ can be stored and handled at much lower temperatures compared to conventional fuels and biofuels which needs high temperatures to stay fluid. This creates a much safer environment for staff who are handling these products.
As emulsion fuels, MSAR® and bioMSAR™ have the characteristic of readily dispersing in water in the unlikely event of a spill. This is different to conventional HFO and biofuels.
Quadrise aims to develop a commercially-competitive net-zero fuel, ‘bioMSAR Zero’, to be ready for launch by 2030. This will involve the replacement of the hydrocarbon element of our fuels with a zero-carbon or even a carbon-negative substitute. Read more about our innovation efforts.
