Energy use in the utilities and heavy industry sectors contribute almost a quarter of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions. Switching from fuel oil to MSAR® and bioMSAR™ to generate heat and power allows industrial clients to reduce their carbon emissions whilst saving fuel costs.

Utilities & Heavy Industry

MSAR® and bioMSAR™ fuel is suitable for base-load utility generation applications, where fuel oil or crude oil is currently utilised, based on c.60 million tons of relevant commercial emulsion fuel experience. MSAR® is attractive as a lower cost fuel alternative, that can reduce emissions of NOx, particulate matter (especially black soot) and ash. MSAR® can reduce environmental compliance costs and enhance the profitability of existing assets or new investments. bioMSAR™ has all the benefits of MSAR® with lower emissions including over 20% less CO2.

We have completed a commercial demonstration using as a MSAR® boiler fuel.  The MSAR® fuel was produced at Orlen Lietuva’s 200,000 bpd refinery in Lithuania, and combusted at the 1800MWe Elektrenai power plant owned by Lietuvos Elektrine.
